Looking for Canteen staff  The St-Laurent Spartans is looking for someone to run its canteen operation at our home games. The canteen is a useful institution as it enhance the atmosphere at games as well as provide vital funds for the kids to continue play football at an affordable rate. La cantine est institution extrêmement utile car non seulement elle participe à améliorer l'atmosphere aux rencontres, mais en plus elle permet de lever des fonds indispensables contribue au budget du club pour conserver un niveau abordable de prix pour que les enfants puissent jouer. Une compensation monnétaire sera offerte aux individus qui accepteront cette mission des plus importantes. Toute personne intéressée devra se manifester avant le 8 juilet. Pre-Season 1

St-Laurent Spartans 60th season is on!  After a few months of reflections on what went right or wrong in 2012 and a few weeks of anticipating where we will end up by season's end, the youngest Spartans were able to dip their toes into very early preseason action and get the ball rolling for the association for the sixtieth time in its existence. The Atom and Mosquito programs were scrimmage guests at Chomedey to play the Blues. Those games are intended to assess the progress of the preparation of team far more that the results that remain totally unofficial. For both levels, it seems that they are getting on rather well, though one can always point to a rusty spot here and there. With still 7-8 weeks before the first official game, both coach  Steven Baranoff and Steve Batsos can be commanded for their effort in getting that well organized this early. This can only be a good omen for the season to come.

La 60e saison des Spartans est lancée!   Après la période de reflections sur les bons et moins bons moments de 2012 et les quelques semaines d'anticipation sur ce que la saison à venir va apporter, les plus jeunes sections des Spartans ont mis le pieds à l'eau pour 2013 et lancée la 60e campagne de l'association. Les équipes atome et moustique ont pris part à une après de football  pré-saison à Chomedey face aux Blues. Ces rencontres préparatoires ont pour but essentiel de determiner les progrès avant le calendrier régulier, et les resultats en restent totallement officieux. Mis à part quelques petits points ici et là, les deux équipes de St-Laurent ont semblé en bon chemin dans le jeu et l'organisation. Avec encore 7-8 semaines avant le premier match officiel, les deux  coaches, Steven Baranoff et Steve Batsos, peuvent être félicités pour en être arrivé déjà là dès la mi-juin. Cela ne peut être qu'un signe positif pour le reste de l'année.

U-15 Wilson Challenge Camp

All of our players make the team. The St-Laurent Spartans Football Association is proud to announce that all 9 players sent to the U-15 All-Star selection camp made the WMFL Elite team. They will participate in the Wilson Challenge which will be held in the first week of July at St-Leonard and McGill Stadium. The annual competition is the annual meet between 8 All-Star teams from across the Province (both from civil and school football). Two Spartans coaches are also part of the staff. Good Luck to them at the tournament!

Tous nos représentants font la sélection. L'assocation de football de St-Laurent est fière d'annoncer que ses 9 joueurs présents au camp de préparation de l'équipe Elite WMFL U-15 ont été sélectionnés pour faire partie du groupe qui prendra part au Challenge Wilson. Les matches se dérouleront la 1e semaine de juillet au parc Hébert (St-Léonard) et au Molson Stadium (McGill). La compétition annuelle reunie 8 équipes All-Star de toute la province (ligues civiles et scolaires). Le staff compte aussi deux coaches de l'association. Bonne chance à eux tous au tournoi!

Mosquito Registration

PRE-REGISTRATION FOR MOSQUITO Mosquito players (born in 2002 and in 2003) are invited to pre-register for the 2013 season on Wedn April 10 at the Centre des Loisirs (1375 Grenet).  from 6-8pm. Producing a Medicare card and a St-Laurent Leisure card (carte des loisirs) is mandatory. For any information, contact team manager Ayanna Alleyne.  * Only forms of payment  accepted are cash or money order.

Atom HC

The Atom Program Gets a New Chief The Last team in the Spartans family that had not yet started its indoor program will do so this week. The Atom program  (7-9 y-o) was anxiously awaiting the  appointment of a new head coach. Steven Baranoff, who was assistant at the level last season was given the nod to take over departing Eric Girard's role. Eric had spearheaded the revival of the program in 2008, and had since been the only head coach. The staff, outside of the new HC, has a few returning members from 2012 and should expand by a member of two by the time the season starts. Practice will start this week indoor at LaurenHill  Jr. Campus on Thursdays 6-8pm.  THE SPARTANS FAMILY WISHES HIM A LONG AND SUCCESSFUL TENURE WITH US!

Arrivée du nouveau chef pour le programme atome La dernière équipe de la famille des Spartans à debuter son programme intérieur, pourra le faire dès cette semaine. L'équipe atome (7-9 ans) attendait avec impatience la nomination d'un nouvel entraineur-chef, c'est chose faite: Steven Baranoff, qui était assistant à ce niveau l'année passée a été approuvé comme celui qui remplacera Eric Girard, qui prend une pause de son rôle dans le football. Ce dernier à été le precurseur de la regénération du programme en 2008, et avait été jusqu'à present sont seul leader. Le staff, en dehors de son nouveau chef, sera composé de membres l'édition 2012 et devrait s'étoffer d'un ou deux membres d'ici le début de saison régulière. Executive 2013

AGM 2013 Election The 2013 AGM was held 23 Feb 2013 at the Centre des Loisirs. A new executive was elected, comprising of a mix of experienced returning members as well as motivated new ones. All positions were filled including that of Bantam director (Guy Poitras) which had been left vacant all of last season. The acting president (MJ Comtois) and VP (Kelly Dimitropoulos) from 2012 were elected to permanent position in recognizance of the great work they provided under demanding circumstances. Best wishes of success to luck to all!

Élection à AGA 2013 L'AGA AGM s'est tenue le 23 fev 2013 au Centre des Loisirs. Un nouveau comité directeur a été élu. Celui-ci comprend un mélange de membres experimentés, ainsi que de nouveaux visages motivés à la tâche. Toutes les positions ont été comblés, y compris la charge de directeur bantam  (Guy Poitras) qui avait été laissée vacante en 2012. La présidente   (MJ Comtois) et la vice-presidente (Kelly Dimitropoulos) qui occupaient la fonction par interim ont été elues de façon permanente en reconnaissance de l'excellent travail fourni dans des conditions difficiles et contraignante. Meilleurs voeux de succès à tous!

AGM 2013 The 2013 will be officially launched on Saturday Feb. 23 at 10am at Centre des loisirs with the AGM being held.  The entire St-Laurent Spartans community is invited for the traditional State of The Association statements by the out-going executive and the election of the new club officers. All concerned parties are welcome to participate and candidates for position on the executive will have a chance of getting elected. COME AND BE COUNTED!

AGA 2013 La saison 2013 sera officiellement lancée le samedi 23 fév. à 10h00am au centre des loisirs avec la tenue de l'AGA. QMFL Awards/Trophées

QMFL AWARDS 2012 The QMFL handed its 2012 awards and St-Laurent was well represented in the winner's category. The team received two All-Star nomination, three player of the year awards and a staff of the year award for an amazing THIRD YEAR IN A ROW. This is a great achievement for outgoing head coach and former Spartan player James Buteau, whose commitment and enthusiasm will be sorely missed. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL! TROPHÉES QMFL 2012 La QMFL a distribué ses trophées pour 2012, et St-Laurent n est pas reparti les mains vides. La formation est repartie avec deux nominations dans l équipe All Star, trois trophées de joueur de l'année et incroyablement l'accolade pour le staff de l année pour la TROISIEME ANNEE CONSECUTIVE. Il s'agit là d'une performance execptionnelle pour James Buteau, le coach et ancien joueur des Spartans sur le départ et dont l'absence sera remarquée. FÉLICITATION A TOUS!
